Chapter Requirements

General requirements

To serve as an AMIGOS Volunteer in Latin America, you must:

• Be at least 16 years old by September 1st of the year of volunteer service
• Have completed your sophomore year of high school
• Have completed at least two years of high school Spanish or the equivalent
• Adhere to the AMIGOS Standards of Personal Conduct and Community Behavior
• Fulfill training and fundraising requirements
• Receive the Required Immunizations (pdf)

Training and Fundraising Requirements

To serve as an AMIGOS Volunteer with the Minneapolis/St. Paul Chapter, you must fully participate in training, service learning and Chapter fundraising.

Training consists of 10 Sunday afternoon sessions, 2 overnight retreats, and 2 day-long retreats. Please see the Training tab for more information.

All volunteers are required to complete 20 hours of service learning in our local community between November and May.

All Volunteers are required to participate in a Chapter Letter Writing Campaign.
