Dear friends and supporters,

I am writing to share an exciting opportunity with you. An anonymous group of donors has issued a Scholarship Fund Matching Gift Challenge for all AMIGOS chapters! 

For each person who signs up for monthly giving (even just $5 a month) to the Minneapolis- St. Paul Chapter from now until October 15th, the annual amount of your gift will be immediately matched for use as chapter scholarship funds!  The following year, if you remain a monthly donor, your donation will continue to go to our chapter. 

So, for example, if you sign up to give $10 per month, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Chapter will receive your monthly gift as well as an immediate $120 matching gift - $240 total!

I know that for me, this opportunity was particularly exciting as I know how AMIGOS has impacted me and I would love to be a part of ensuring more youth can benefit from this experience.  In 2009, I spent an amazing summer in Azuero, Panama with AMIGOS.  During my eight week experience, I was able to collaborate with my community, El Ciprian, to construct a comedor (community kitchen),  plant over three hundred new trees and teach daily talleres (workshops) at the local school.  While there were plenty of community benefits to this partnership, my personal growth exceeded my expectations.  I gained invaluable leadership skills, creative problem-solving skills, and the confidence to take initiative and personal responsibility.  My understanding of community development and international relations was deepened and I know that this has been a life changing experience for me.  I am much more civic-minded and look forward to continuing to use these skills and newfound insights in local community development here in my hometown. 

I am excited to play a role in creating more civic-minded youth in the Twin Cities by ensuring more youth can have a similar life-changing experience.
